Priest Leveling

Hey, MikemanX here,

If you’re out there looking for a good priest leveling guide, I know how you feel.  There is a lot of conflicting advice out there regarding the best way to level a priest.  It can be hard to figure out the right path to take, however having gone through all that confusion already, I can lay out a clear path for you to follow that yields results.

From my experience, if you want to level fast in the initial levels, you need to go for the Holy tree, that is until you hit level 49.  At around level 50, the Shadow tree really starts to pick up some steam and you’re best served by re-spec’ing:

Levels 10-49 (7/27/3)

Shadow Talent Tree

Spirit Tap 3/3
Discipline Talent Tree
Twin Disciplines 5/5
Martyrdom 2/2

Holy Talent Tree

Healing Focus 2/2
Improved Renew 3/3
Holy Specialization 5/5
Divine Fury 5/5
Desperate Prayer 1/1
Holy Reach 2/2
Searing Light 2/2
Spiritual Guidance 5/5
Surge of Light 2/2

Levels 50-80 (Re-Spec Shadow)

Shadow Talent Distribution

Spirit Tap 3/3
Improved Spirit Tap 2/2
Improved Shadow Word: Pain 2/2
Shadow Focus 3/3
Improved Psychic Scream 2/2
Improved Mind Blast 2/5
Mind Flay 1/1
Shadow Reach 2/2
Shadow Weaving 3/3
Silence 1/1
Vampiric Embrace 1/1
Focused Mind 3/3
Mind Meld 2/2
Improved Devouring Plague 3/3
Shadowform 1/1
Shadow Power 2/5

Now that you know how you’re going to be distributing your talent points, have a look here at what your spell rotation is going to look like…this is what it will be when you’re in the holy tree:

Smite > Mind Blast > Shadow Word: Pain > Power Word: Shield > Devouring Plague

And once you switch over to the Shadow tree, it will be more like the following:

Power Word: Shield > Vampiric Touch > Mind Blast > Vampiric Embrace > Shadow Word: Pain > Devouring Plague > Mind Flay

Now, even though I had researched ll this, thigns were not working out as I had originally thought they would.  I was leveling decently enough until about levels 15-20, at which point I realized something was up…

I was leveling SOOO damn SLOW!

It was frustrating!  I couldn’t believe I had researched the best priest leveling build and yet things were happening so slow for me.  So I decided to ask a fellow guildie who power levels for some help.  He told me that one priest leveling guide he made use of was the Team iDemise Leveling Guide, he said that he’s used that system for all of his classes and that I should check it out, so I decided to take a look…

What Is The Team iDemise  Leveling Guide?

Once I looked into this priest leveling guide, I realized it wasn’t actually a PDF file or anything, but rather an in game add-on.  What it does is It displays a green arrow on the screen in front of your character which then points you to quests to collect, objectives to fulfill and when and where you need to go to turn those quests in.  It basically shows you the optimal leveling path and you just have to follow along.

In addition to that, you can also see a dialogue box which explains in detail what you will need to do.  So you might see:

Kill 8 Spore Harvesters in the Borean Tundra for “Vermin Extermination” at (13,23)
Obtain 15 Tempest Motes from Enraged Tempests for “Motes of the Enraged” at (11,24)
Turn in the “Vermin Extermination” Quest to Scout Tungok

Now this program helped me level up significantly faster, however it wasn’t perfect, here were a few issues I had with it:

CONS:

  • They used to have this guide in HTML format as well so you could view it outside of WoW.  However they have since taken this down.
  • It would be good if there were more videos depicting how to finish the most difficult quests as well as more class specific leveling info.

PROS:

  • The add-on comes with a Map Mod which shows you visually on your mini-map what you need to do next.  This works great in combination with the written dialogue box.
  • You also have the large green arrow to follow which points you in the right direction, it makes leveling a lot easier.
  • You won’t get in trouble with this program as it’s not a cheat or a hack.
  • You access to a members only forum as well as lifetime updates to the in-game add-on.
  • You get a 60 day money back guarantee.

Final Thoughts:

If you’ve been struggling to level a priest or if you just want to bypass the headache and frustration with leveling a priest, this is a good priest leveling guide to look into.
I’ve been using this as a priest leveling guide as well as a guide for my other classes and each time I’ve used it, I’ve reached level 80 within 7-10 in-game days, it’s saved me many days of play time and let me play out other classes I wouldn’t have tried otherwise.
